August 8, 2005: NASA Big Bore Drivers to battle it out at VIR Stock Car Spectacular
Factory Five Roadsters, American Iron and Camaro Mustang Challenge to race at VIR's Stock Car Spectacular on labor Day weekend.

NASA is pleased to announce that VIR has invited several of NASA’s most popular racing series to participate in its second annual Stock Car Spectacular. Factory Five will hold it’s annual Nationals at VIR this including include a huge car show, new product showcase and the main event race to determine the National Champion of the Factory Five race series.

American Iron, including Camaro Mustang Challenge will pound the ground with its big V-8 cars and ultra close racing. This race represents the last of the American Iron East Coast Championship races and it is hotly contested between Bob Kaser, Beau Dunnivant, and Bryan Shugg.

The races will take place on the VIR Full Course (3.27 miles) and the event will occur over the three days of September 2,3 and 4, 2005.

Racers will be treated to over three hours of track time. The Schedule is as follows...

NOTE: Un-muffled engines may only be run from 8am- 6:30pm daily

Wednesday, August 31st (Camping available; no trailer drops until registered)
6:00pm-9:00pm: Registration at Raceplex Registration Building for Friday Test day

Thursday, September 1st
7am-7pm: Registration at Raceplex Reg. Building for Test Day

8:00am: MANDATORY Driver Meeting for Test Day Participants

8:30am-Noon: Test Day $200/car

Noon-1pm: Lunch

1:00pm-5:00pm: Test Day Sessions

5:00pm-8:30pm: FFR, AI and CMC Registration and Check in at the Raceplex Reg. Building for Race Weekend (ALL Drivers must check in at Registration)

5:00pm-8:30pm: Tech at Designated Paddock Areas

Friday, September 2nd
One thirty minute session in the morning and one thirty minute session in the afternoon

Saturday, September 3rd
One thirty minute practice session in the morning with a thirty minute qualifying session in the afternoon

Sunday, September 4th
One twenty minute warm-up session in the morning with a 10 lap feature race in the afternoon.

NOTE: VIR is handling all Pre-Registration Entry price is $375 for the three day weekend up to Midnight, August 23, 2005. Entry rises to $425 on August 24, 2005. GET YOUR ENTRIES IN EARLY!!!! Your entry fee includes the following:

  • Passes for one driver and three crew
  • 1 support vehicle Paddock Pass
  • 2 Camping permits
  • Invitation for Driver and crew to the Welcome Reception at the VIR Clubhouse
