King RAT Motorsports is pleased to announce that it will become the title sponsor for the 2006 NASA Mid Atlantic Spec Miata Challenge.
This series will compete at all NASA Mid Atlantic races in 2006 at tracks such as VIR, Summit Point, and Carolina Motorsports Park with championship standings being determined from each competitiors best 10 race results. King RAT will post a $2000 championship prize fund to be paid out to the top five championship finishers.
"We are really excited to be involved in promoting this seriies." said King RAT owner Alex Ratcliffe. "We have seen tremendous growth in Spec Miata numbers at both the club and professional levels and we expect to see the same growth at NASA events, which will make for some good racing.
"NASA Mid Atlantic is happy to have King RAT on as a series sponsor" says NASA Mid Atlantic Director Chris Cobetto. "It gives our SM competitors more incentive to run for a championship."
The series will use the NASA 2006 Spec Miata rules and utilize the TOYO RA1 as its spec tire and the NASA/TOYO tire contingency program. Each NASA race weekend comprises of practice, qualifying and race each day totaling 2 hours of track time.
Addtional sponsors, contingency and the final 2006 schedule will be announced in early 2006.
